About the Master Class Series

Each season Ballet Arkansas brings professional choreographers and guests artists from around the nation to Little Rock, AR, to set or create works of choreography for Ballet Arkansas to perform.

As part of our outreach and educational programs, Ballet Arkansas is able to offer students the opportunity to receive instruction from these established dance professionals while they are in Little Rock.

Master classes are held at the Ballet Arkansas Studio located at 520 S Main St. Little Rock, AR 72201.

Classes are registration based for students age 12 and up, who are currently enrolled in a ballet class.

The cost per student is $30 and there is a $15 fee for individuals that want to observe a class.

Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there is room at the barre for all students.

Former New York City Ballet Dancer and Balanchine Répétiteur

Michele grew up in Dallas, Texas and began her training with Ann Etgen and Bill Atkinson at the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet. At the age of sixteen, she moved to New York City to attend the School of American Ballet on full scholarship. Two years later, she became a member of the New York City Ballet. In her twelve year career at New York City Ballet, Michele had the opportunity to perform many soloist and principal roles including: Balanchine’s Apollo, Rubies, Agon, Symphony in Three Movements, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Stars and Stripes, to name a few. Michele also originated many roles including: Jerome Robbins’ West Side Story Suite, Peter Martins’ Echo, Christopher Wheeldons’ Slavonic Dances, and David Parsons’ Touch.  In 2000, Michele joined Texas Ballet Theater under the direction of Ben Stevenson. While at TBT, she performed several principal roles including Ben Stevenson’s Coppelia, Four Last Songs, Dracula, and Peer Gynt, along with Balanchine’s Allegro Brilliante and The Four Temperaments.  Michele has also made several guest artist appearances including, Tchaikovsky pas de Deux, Who Cares?, Barber Violin Concerto, Carmina Burana, and most recently with the Bruce Wood Dance Company, Ballet Concerto, and American Repertory Ensemble and continues to perform as a Principal guest artist. Along with performing, Michele is a Balanchine Répétiteur and has the opportunity to stage and coach several ballets including Who Cares?, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Serenade, and Valse Fantaisie to name a few. Since 1999 Michelle has been a certified GYROTONIC instructor and owns her own studio, Studio G, in Fort Worth, TX. Michele has two children, Ryan and Morgan.
